I have included two pictures of my 65GTO that show the CalTracs at rest and
during a launch. The angle seems very steep to me and I was wondering if the 3 hole front pivot would help. The springs are XHD 69 GTX with two clamps
on the front segments and at the time of these pics the pinion angle was about 5degrees and I was using 25plus year-old Gabriel Adjustable E's. The
best 60ft was 1.50 on a 10.68 @ 124.5mph with a DA of 6550 at 3500lbs. Since then I discovered the shocks were wasted(2-3" of NO Resistance on
one of them when seperated!) so I replaced with new Sensa Trac shocks that had similar dimensions to the Adjustable E's including 1/2" more
travel and added a 2degree wedge to get 3degrees of pinion angle. I have not been able to run the car at the track with the new mods due to winter. Is
the steep angle of the bar hurting me? Do you have any other suggestions? Am I being unreasonable to expect low to mid 1.4 60fts?
Update: April 2009
I wanted to thank you for sending the three-hole front plates. Have not installed them, but will soon! Also, if you would like to update the info on the gallery picture of my 65GTO, it has a best of 1.42 60ft 6.45 @ 104.97 1/8 10.25 @ 127.12 1/4 at 3550lbs through the full exhaust and all N/A PONTIAC POWER! Looking for consistent 1.40’s, maybe high 1.30’s with the three hole plates. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Thanks,
Phil Howard
